NT Music School operates in the Katherine region and leads programs in support of NT Government schools at all stages of learning. Programs offered at Katherine High School include small-group instrumental tuition on saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, percussion, bass guitar and guitar. Students need to own or hire an instrument to participate in instrumental lessons. Another program on offer is Rock School, which is open by audition to students with some experience in singing, guitar, bass guitar, drums, percussion, keyboard, trumpet trombone or saxophone.
Every year students from Katherine are invited to enter the NT Battle of the School Bands competition, or to take part in the annual Katherine Beat concert.
